Many people search the internet to for health information without knowing where to start or how to determine a reliable resource. Whether they are trying to learn about their symptoms, help a family member, or learn about a disease or condition, accessing accurate information online is important. Taking Effective Action, Inc. (TEA) published a brief video on sistahvoices.org to help the public, especially African American women, learn how to access HIV/AIDS information from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Library of Medicine (NLM). Users of Sistah Voices can visit the site and click on the resources tab to quickly link to:
where they will learn about prevention, treatment, and specific HIV/AIDS topics via fact sheets and infographics. They can also learn about ongoing and completed clinical trials related to HIV and AIDS. This brief video provides links, search instructions, and screenshots for viewers. The new NIH HIV site recently launched in fall 2020 so TEA is happy to get the word out to the community. Although the NLM resources are not new, many African Americans in the community are just becoming familiar with them through TEA educational activities. Creating videos is an effective way for TEA to replace in-person learning events with virtual products to continue connecting with the community during the COVID-19 pandemic. Link to video
