The Arthur Ashe Institute for Urban Health has a long history of conducting community outreach and health promotion interventions in non-traditional settings such as beauty salons, barbershops and faith based institutions. For its National Library of Medicine funded project, the Institute will utilize barbershops and salons to provide HIV/AIDS information to the community.
We have developed attractive wallet cards, which provide brief messages regarding HIV/AIDS as well as information regarding NLM’s online resources. Participants will be given the opportunity to opt-in for text messages. In addition to receiving the attractive wallet cards, participants will also have the opportunity to receive a gift card by entering a monthly drawing.
